Sandeep Goyal, Chairman of Rediffusion and Everest, and Kartik Sharma, CEO of Omnicom Media India, have been nominated by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) to the board of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India.

The nominations follow Goyal’s election as President of AAAI, following which the earlier nomination of Srinivasan Swamy to the BARC board was reversed. The latest nominations are expected to strengthen AAAI’s representation on the industry’s television audience measurement body.

Goyal brings over four decades of experience spanning advertising, media, marketing and corporate leadership. An MBA, PhD and DLitt, he is currently Chairman of Rediffusion and Everest, two of India’s largest independent advertising agencies.

Over his career, Goyal has worked with leading advertising networks and agencies, including HTA (now VML), Trikaya Grey (now part of WPP), DDB Mudra, Rediffusion Dentsu and Young & Rubicam. He has also served as Group CEO of Zee Telefilms and as India joint venture partner and Chairman of Dentsu India and the Middle East.

His experience extends beyond advertising. Goyal previously chaired Snapchat’s India Advisory Board and served a three-year stint in the Punjab government as Principal Secretary. An author of 10 books, he is also a widely published columnist and commentator, with regular contributions to publications including The Economic Times and Business Standard.

Kartik Sharma, meanwhile, brings more than 30 years of experience across media strategy, communication planning, behavioural economics, analytics and technology. As CEO of Omnicom Media India, part of the global Omnicom Group, he has been instrumental in driving business growth and advancing media planning and measurement practices.

Sharma currently serves on the AAAI Board and BARC’s Disciplinary Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Media Research Users Council India (MRUCI). His previous industry roles include key positions at TAM Media Research and the Indian Readership Survey.

His recent industry recognition includes being named IAA Media Influencer of the Year 2026 and receiving the e4m Influencer of the Year 2025 award.
